Welcome to another season at the beach!
Woonona Stringrays meet fortnightly on Sundays for sand, water and Surf Education activities from mid-late October through to March with a break during Christmas/New Year. The activities start at 9.30am and usually take 1½-2 hrs. When possible, on alternate Sundays we conduct beach skills and surf skills training for those interested. Please refer to our nipper calendar for registration and start dates and to the club calendar for all club activities.
Nippers 2008/2009 - Important Information
Please note the following safety matters regarding nipper registrations before you consider joining or re-registering for the coming season:
- It is a Surf Life Saving Australia policy that at least one parent/guardian is to remain on the beach at all times whilst their child is taking part in nipper activities. This applies to U/6's to U/14's regardless of whether they live in close proximity to the beach. If a parent/guardian is found not to be in attendance as required then the club is at liberty to cancel the membership of both the child and parent/guardian.
- Children will not be allowed to join in any nipper activities until a swim proficiency certificate is signed by either a designated Woonona SLSC official or a recognized swim school. The compulsory swim proficiency must be successfully completed for all U/8's to U/14's. If you are unsure of what’s involved, please contact the Jnr Chairperson or click here for more information.
- Children must remain in the age group they're placed in at the start of the season, according to their age at 30 Sept 2008, and will not be able to change to a higher age group.
- For safety reasons, U/6 and U/7 age groups will only proceed when there is a ratio of 1 parent helper per 5 children.
Junior Sub-Committee
Woonona nipper numbers have increased substantially in recent years and we’re now planning to form a Junior Sub-Committee. Please click here for details.
Remember to check our noticeboards and calendars for the latest updates on our Club’s social activities, training days, carnivals etc.
Looking forward to another great season!
Michelle Geary
Junior Chairperson
